Senior Museum Assistant: Responsible for Conservation unit

I have been working at the National Museum of History for the past 26 years. Started as a trainee museum assistant in June 1996.As a Trainee museum assistant, my duties were assisting with museum guided tours, and educational activities. I also assisted with research work for the museum, and performed any relevant duties (Documentation, inventory and reception). At that time the museum work was done manually. This helped me develop my knowledge, learn how to understand how a museum functions and how to better discharge my duties as a museum assistant.

At the time training and resources was limited. I had to learn from experienced staff, memorize and then put it into practice. My greatest strength is the ability to deliver work on time and being able to work under pressure, which helped me persevere and succeed in my work.My biggest accomplishment was helping in the development, and the setting up of the National Museum of History relocation and relaunching of the museum on the 30th November 2018.

I have attended many training courses and workshops both locally and internationally. Training and conferences attended have mostly been linked to the field of conservation and preservation. Had been to many countries such as Ghana, South Africa, Botswana, Paris, Japan and China.

My goal for the future is to see the storage at Perseverance established to international standard. My wish for the future is for Conservation Unit in the museum well established and successful.
